Who is this course for?

The course is designed for candidates that are seeking to gain employment within the Security Industry as a licensed security officer performing 1A Unarmed security worksuch as mobile and static patrols and crowd control. Employment opportunities may include: working at bars, clubs, vehicle patrols, shopping centres, airports, functions, and music and sporting events.

What qualification will I receive?

At the successful completion of the training program, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification, CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations. This course is the Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED) mandated qualification to receive a 1A NSW Security Licence. New entrants must complete the training program in full to apply for a 1A NSW Security Licence. This qualification must be completed in line with the SLED mandated training and assessment program.

Cluster One - Security Industry Fundamentals

  • CPPSEC2102 - Apply legal and procedural requirements to work effectively within a security team
  • CPPSEC2103 - Apply WHS, emergency response and evacuation procedures to maintain security
  • CPPSEC2104 - Apply risk assessment to select and carry out response to security risk situations.

Cluster Two - Patrol, Monitor and Screen

  • CPPSEC2107 - Patrol premises to monitor property and maintain security
  • CPPSEC2109 - Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
  • CPPSEC2108 - Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security.

Cluster Three - Protect Self and Others

  • CPPSEC2106 - Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques
  • CPPSEC2111 - Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
  • CPPSEC2112 - Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises

Cluster Four - Manage Behaviour of Others

  • CPPSEC2101 - Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
  • CPPSEC2110 - Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
  • CPPSEC2113 - Escort and protect persons and valuables
  • CPPSEC2105 - Provide quality services to a range of security clients.

Eligibility and Prerequisites

  • All candidates must supply a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Available at www.usi.gov.au.
  • All candidates must be either an Australian Citizen, permanent resident, NZ citizen, or a humanitarian visa holder
  • All candidates must provide 100 points of Identification
  • All candidates must complete the SLED Pre-Enrolment Workshop - (Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Assessment (ACSFLevel 3/4))
  • All candidates must be at least 18 years of age to apply for a NSW Security Licence.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered as mixed learning:

  • Online pre-learning and reading throughout the course and;
  • Face-to-face training,knowledge tests, assessment tasks and simulated activities.

Course Duration

Full face-to-face programs are 10 - 14 days. You are required to complete pre-reading and learning online. Assessment only pathways are 10 days. You are required to complete pre-reading and learning online.

Course time is 08:30 - 17:30.

The standard weekday (Monday - Friday) course fee is $1,250.00.

Employment is subject to successful attainment of a 1A NSW Security Licence and successful completion of the course.
