Who is this course for?

The course is designed for candidates

‍

to perform transport security screening functions including, controlling access to security sensitive areas, undertaking physical searches, and identifying and handling weapons, explosives and prohibited items. A Transport Security Screening Officer must also apply effective communication skills to work in a broad range of transport security protection roles.

‍What qualification will I receive?

At the successful completion of the training program, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification, AVI20118 - Certificate II in Transport Security Protection.

What will I learn?

• AVIG0001 - Work effectively in a transport security environment(#)
• AVIO0007 - Control access to and exit from a security sensitive area
• AVIO0008 - Establish and maintain a sterile sensitive area
• AVIO0009 - Identify and handle weapons, explosives and prohibited items
• AVIO0015 - Undertake physical search of cargo and articles
• AVIO0005 - Conduct screening using explosive trace detection
• AVIO0003 - Apply electronic metal detection
• AVIO0014 - Screen articles by interpreting X-ray images
• AVIF0015 - Apply awareness of dangerous goods and hazardous substances in the transport security environment

Eligibility and Prerequisites

• All candidates must supply a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Available at www.usi.gov.au.
• All candidates must provide 100 points of Identification
• Applicants with Overseas Students Visa’s are not permitted.
• Hold a valid and current ASIC (Aviation Security Identification)

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered as mixed learning:

• Face-to-face training,knowledge tests, assessment tasks and simulated activities.‍

Full face-to-face programs are 5 days. Course time is 08:30 - 17:30.
